Check out my Tumblr/Twitter for updates!

I haven't updated my Blogger in a while, it doesn't seem to be as popular a forum as it once was...

So, if you'd like to see updates of my work, you can check out my Tumblr and Twitter (and even Instagram) for all the latest stuff.  Thanks!

Super Avalanche 2 Promo Work

I recently made some promo art for a cool game called "Super Avalanche 2."  It stars a badass marshmallow who ascends levels on some trippy blocks.

"Wrong Turn"

I finished my submission for Spectrum.  I had an awesome time designing goblins (and the two kids).  I enjoyed working in a more animated style; up next, I got some new fantasy pieces in the works.

Goblin Heads

I'm making a goblin-themed painting for my upcoming "Spectrum" submission.  I sat down with my Pilot Pen and threw down some quick goblin heads (I added a little color in PS later on).  I've worked on a lot of projects lately that are very careful and slow, I love times like this where I can experiment with shapes and marks.

Rooster

Back when I was still in Austin, I visited a chicken farm that belonged to one of my painting students.  I took a lot of great reference shots, but I haven't had the time to sit down and do some work from them.  I did a little chicken watercolor a few weeks back in my sketchbook, but I sat down and made a more in-depth study of this rooster.  I kept the left side very open and "process"-ee, I've always loved seeing that in oil paintings/studies.

Dog commission

Back when I was in Austin, I painted quite a few dogs at work and for commissions.  Since moving out to Oakland, I haven't had the opportunity to paint any.  A buddy of mine (still back in Austin) commissioned me to paint his dog.  It's nice to take a break from digital painting to do something traditional.  I like spending most of my time painting with a 1.5" flat, only dropping down for the smaller details (eye, nose, etc.)

More of my dogs can be found at PrismaticPet.com

Sketch - watercolor chicken

I visited a chicken farm a while back and did a few sketches/took some photos.  I finally had the chance to sit down and make a more developed, colored sketch.  It was nice to do something traditional as a break from all the digital stuff.

Game Asset - Leaning Tower of Pisa

This is a game asset (mobile gaming) that I made of the Leaning Tower of Pisa.  I've been meaning to display this process for a while:  taking a realistic sketch into something more stylized.

Mechanic Character Design

This is a character I designed for a game.  I've definitely had a lot of influence from my side project, Studio Tinlock (StudioTinlock.com ), that I run with my girlfriend.  This tends to be the style we use for our prints and project commissions.  It occurred to me that I need to include more of my preliminary work in these pieces (sketches, inking, WIP's, etc.)  I'll probably look into another model sheet of this character that focuses on his expressions and tools.

Videogame Asset

This is a little iso-asset I made for a videogame.  The band-aid makes me want to design some small characters to go along with it, not sure if I plan on doing insects, tiny people, or something else... (tiny insect people..........)(.....)

The Green Mile – Sketch

I watched "The Green Mile" for the first time – yep, 14 years late to the party.  The cast was incredible, lots of great performances.  Loved the setting of the movie (era and sets).

Presley - Complete

Here is the final Presley painting.  I kept the banner fairly loose so it wouldn't come forward too much, and I made Presley and her surroundings very warm to evoke the hippie/outdoor vibe.  I ended up using a lot of ochre in the background to give the painting a bit of a 60s vibe.  I'm hoping I'll get another character to paint in this series from my client, I'm enjoying the character design process.
